Successfull start with n.jet soldermask at Printed Circuits, LLC

March 9, 2021 – Notion Systems GmbH

Notion Systems GmbH has delivered and commissioned the first n.jet soldermask ink jet system at Printed Circuits, LLC in the USA. The inkjet printer is using a totally additive solder mask process, replacing a number of steps including photo tool, exposure, pre-dry and development / stripping steps. In doing so, it reduces demand for space, energy and consumables. Small and variable batches can be produced with zero extra set up cost and shortened production time.

PCI specializes in manufacturing rigid-flex circuits and the n.jet additive print process is ideal in giving superb accuracy, with the ability to vary both mask thickness and level of gloss finish as desired.

“We are very pleased with the results we are seeing” said Matt Tannehill, PCI’s Executive Vice President. “The print quality is the same as the print samples Notion produced for us when we were at the evaluation stage. The support and back-up have been excellent as well.”

“The installation has gone very well” said Peter Walshe, Notion’s PCB Executive Director for North America “and we are pleased that PCI are already seeing the many benefits of the n.jet soldermask, including narrower solder dams with zero undercut.”
